Casa Linda Forest Neighborhood Association (CLFNA)
Night out against crime
CLFNA’s October Night Out Against Crime is a Wild Wild West Round Up! Saturday, October 4th.- This is a year of many firsts including:
- Our first themed Night Out – Wild Wild West Round Up
- Our first Night Out fundraiser – the Silent Auction at the General Store
- More raffles than ever from local vendors and neighbors
- Neighborhood Crime Watch signs for sale ($5.00 each)
- Costume Contest for both best dressed western adult and child.
In order to make all of this happen we are appealing to you - the heart and soul of the neighborhood. Do you own a business that would like to donate a gift certificate to our raffle? Do you have a new, never been used item or service to donate to the silent auction? If you do, please contact Wanetta Smith at nightout@clfna.org for donation and pickup information. Thank you for helping us make this year’s Night Out Against Crime a success. Additional information regarding the Night Out Against Crime will be published in our upcoming newsletter.
Our New Addition!
We have a new addition to the Westglen entrance. Gerhard Schuttger and J J Wright planted a Redbud tree in memory of Betty Grumbles. She was the wife of Bill Grumbles, our neighbor and has been on the Board of Directors for years. Many of you don't know that Bill makes all of the yellow signs for the neighborhood events. He donates his time and the signs. We thank you Bill and all those that donated to the fund to purchase the tree. We truly have a great neighborhood. Bill you add to our neighborhood and hope you and your family enjoy driving by the tree.Click on the image above to see it full size.
2008 Spring Fling Garage Sales
Yes, it was "warm and humid, but we still had a super CLFNA Spring Fling Garage Sales event. Neighbors generously gave of their time and effort to have sales; neighbors met other neighbors; neighbors made some dollars and so did CLFNA through their donation of 10%, the Association. A big CLFNA thank you to those who had sales, those who walked flyers, and those who visited the sales.

What does YOUR Home Security have to do with joining the Neighborhood Association?
On a Friday night in February, two of our Volunteers In Patrol were making their rounds in our neighborhood. While driving down an alley, they noticed a garage door open, no cars parked and a flashing garage light drawing attention to the unattended open garage. After checking the front door and finding no one at home, the VIP driver lowered the garage door. That's all good, but what does that have to do with being a member? Our VIP drivers carry the names, addresses and phone numbers of all members. They were able to call the neighbor that evening and let them know about their malfunctioning garage door. That neighbor was very appreciative to know about their security problem.

Snake found on Springhill and Vinewood
This big fella was waiting for me when I got home last night around 7 PM (right next to my back porch where we talked Saturday afternoon). It is a cottonmouth. I guess with all of the rain he wondered a little further from the water than normal, so I just wanted everyone in the area to be careful when stepping into groundcover, etc. until it dries out a little.
